As predicted 3 years ago, Context is the right approach to AI
Apple Inc approach to AI is the correct one as it all comes down to Context for which I outlined on my blog on May 6, 2021 “Does your business needs Artificial Intelligence or Ambient Intelligence”
The following quote gives a deep understanding behind the vision for an effective Artificial Intelligence construct.
“Unfortunately, I realized early on that you must include a contextual awareness factor into any equations that involves humans interaction to meet an expected outcome.”
At the time, I focused on how to elevate the customer experience with the use of Predictive Analytics. Inherently, and even though I had all the insights required to understand the customer journey it still required a tremendous amount of resources to finalize the blueprint for an exceptional customer experience.
So yes, Apple Intelligence wins the first bout and Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Facebook must rethink their approach but I believe that the potential winners behind the AI race have not shown themselves as of yet (They just down know it). These Winners already exist and drive companies that have the Technology, experience and expertise to enhance our lives in the same way the advent of the Internet brought us solutions that have changed our lives faster than in any other points in history.
Apple Intelligence, OpenAI and everyone else still relies on a tremendous amount of computing power to acknowledge, process and respond to a request with any type of relevance. Current Learning Language Model train on a set of data that has no relevance to CONTEXT and therefore the best you get from Open AI and the like resides in a copy mechanism and the expansion of what already exists. Great, but how do you respond to a Context encapsulated around a set of insights to derive an action. Apple, and everyone else will improve their Digital Assistants over but won’t move us forward until they readjust their approach for which will become the next Trillion Dollars Idea.

As such Ambient Computing encompass the combination of hardware, software, user experience and machine learning.
